Who is Dr. Jacqueline Noonan?

Dr. Jacqueline Noonan was born Oct. 28 1928 in Burlington VT. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College in 1950 and received an MD degree from the University of VT in 1954. After an internship at Chapel Hill NC she completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and then a fellowship in Ped. Cardiology at Boston Children ‘s Hospital. At her first job in Iowa City she noted 9 children who looked like siblings and all had pulmonary stenosis. She moved to the Univ. of KY. In Dec.1961 where she identified an additional 10 patients which she published in 1968. This is now called Noonan Syndrome. She has remained at KY/where she served as chairman of Pediatrics from 1974 to 1992 and as chief of Ped. Cardiology until she retired in 1999. She continues to teach and attend heart clinics throughout Eastern KY. She is Professor Emeritus and continues to write and do clinical research. She has been active in TNSSG (link to www.noonansyndrome.org) from the onset.[1]
